On 26th June local time, Zhu Chen, Chairman of MainlandGroup, was interviewed by Tanzania National Television (TBC). Zhu Chen stated that our aim is for Tanzania to achieve self-sufficiency in edible oil within the next four years, eliminating the need for imports by growing and processing our own crops, ensuring that all Tanzanians can consume locally-produced sunflower oil.We plan to initiate the cultivation program by April of next year, beginning with 10,000 hectares, followed by approximately 20,000 hectares in the second phase, and around 40,000 hectares in the third phase, totaling 70,000 hectares.Our factory currently requires 100,000 tons of sunflower seeds as raw material, hence we will continue to purchase from local farmers and suppliers at this stage. The initial phase of the processing facility, with an investment of approximately $28 million, is anticipated to commence full operations by year-end, generating over 600 employment opportunities. The overall project investment, including the plantation, is estimated at around $150 million.
